Love Sucks is the second book in Cynthia St. Aubin’s Tails from the Alpha Art Gallery series, and the author has already been nominated for a Nobel Prize for Literature… Fine, she hasn’t – one of the many injustices in the world. When a series manages to make you laugh, cry (because you’re laughing so hard), creates introspection, hunger for cheese (and I don’t even like cheese…), provokes thoughtful interest in art, gives an education in wolf shifter hierarchy, conversations with long-dead (soooo not dead) artists, and gives the crazy-haired leading lady two drool-worthy men to choose from – can anyone blame Nobel slipping betwixt my lips?
Love Sucks is a cleverly written murder mystery with siblings Contemporary and Fantasy supporting from the gallery. Win. Win. Win.
*Note – There is a definite Hanna in Wonderland and Beauty and the Abernathy mood to Love Sucks. E.g.: “I want adventure in the great wide somewhere! I want it more than I can tell (Hanna should have been a little more careful with her wishes…)!” “Off with their heads (when she isn’t thinking about cheese, she’s kinda bloodthirsty)!” “Take it with you so you’ll always have a way to look back… and remember me (Abernathy gifting Hanna with meat…).” “The people think I’m odd. So, I know how it feels to be…different. And I know how lonely that can be (Belle may have spoken these words, but come on, Hanna thought them first…).” “We’re all mad here (Steven Franke’s mantra).” “Please… Don’t leave me. I love you (Hanna speaking to… hmmm…🙊).” “Curiouser and curiouser (the whole series – in an awesomely, tingly way)!” “‘Who in the world am I?’ Ah, that’s the great puzzle (whoever she is – she smells delicious – to a LOT of people)!” “Don’t you see? She’s the one. The girl we have been waiting for. She has come to break the spell (of wearing clothes).” “Here’s where she meets Prince Charming(s), but she won’t discover that it’s him ’til chapter three!” Okay – I’ll stop – but I’m so right.
